About MOI

Gawrsh, where oh where do I begin?

My story

Storyteller. Game Designer. Educator. Full Stack Engineer (in training). And much more to come!

From basic to Boss:
A JOURNEY

“When the girl was born, like all Spartans, she was inspected…” – 300, the movie
(not really, but this is one of my favorite opening lines EVER!)

It’s dead now, but It’s home.

Guten tag.

That’s literally all I know how to say in German, lol!

You may not know it by looking at me, but I was born in Bitburg Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED:

I’ve always been a storyteller.
I’ve always been a Teacher.

It all started with four orphaned best friends and a magical mailbox. Seriously!

I was in 5th grade and writing my magnus opus: an epic fantasy adventure featuring four very different, but lovable BFFs searching for an escape from the evil Mrs. Robespierre, the owner of the orphanage. (We’d just finished learning about Maximilien Robespierre in school, lol!)

The BFFs wrote letters to penpals far away and put them in a magical mailbox that took them wherever they wanted to go. But because I loved history and I wanted to travel so badly, I wanted this series to explore different cultures and teach historical lessons.

That series today is called P.I. Sleuths, and it would become my very first step towards becoming a storyteller, sociologist, and teacher who valued learning through the art and power of story…

ACHIEVEMENTS UNLOCKED:

CREATIVITY KEEPS YOU POOR
SO GET A PHD!”

…but while I love(d) storytelling with a passion, I had no idea how to turn it into a teaching tool that could also keep a roof over my head.

So while I kept writing, I leaned harder into my interests in Sociology (and Anthropology), and I discovered a new hope: getting a PhD!

This was it: a “legitimate” career in at least one of my areas of interest. I could teach and also dance with story… for what greater story is there than the societal chronicling of mankind?

It was during this amazing time in life that I became an Educator, Statistical Sorceress, and a pretty boss Research Scientist, Project Director, and Consultant.

In these roles, I developed a variety of adult learning experiences, stats reports, job aids, and mini-modules to help learners master the social sciences. I also implemented learning theories such as ADDIE and Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Training Evaluation
